Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde on Thursday presented staff of office to the new and 30th Aseyin of Iseyin, His Royal Majesty Oba Sefiu Olawale Oyebola, Adeyeri III.
Governor Makinde, who rejoiced with Iseyin sons and daughters both home and in the diaspora, said the new Aseyin never lobbied him or any kingmaker as he never met him before his selection.
He appreciated the Iseyin kingmakers for giving the town a new befitting king without external influence from anyone.
Earlier at the event, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Honourable Olusegun Olayiwola admonished the new Aseyin to be alive to his traditional duties and give unflinching support to the state government while urging all Iseyin sons and daughters to throw their support behind the new monarch.
Also in his speech, Oyo North Senator, Fatai Buhari, who congratulated Ọba Oyebola, urging him to unite all that contested for the throne against him, as according to him, all of them have become his subjects.
After taking his staff of office, Oba Sefiu Olawale Oyebola, Adeyeri III expressed his readiness to deliver to his subject and the entire Iseyin town, while assuring his people that he is prepared to tackle the problems at hand.
He also promised to work with prominent people to drive Iseyin forward, appealing to people to be peaceful to non-indigenes and other residents of Iseyinland.
The new monarch assured people that his throne will project Yoruba culture while his palace will remain opened to all. Aseyin assured unemployed graduates that he has plans for them to ensure that they don’t take to social vices.
Prominent people at the coronation ceremony include Chief Alake Adeyemo, Senator Fatai Buhari, Senator Monsura Sunmonu, Oyo State Commissioner for Lands and Urban Development, Honourable Williams Akin-Funmilayo; Honourable Shina Oyedeji, Honourable Shina Peller, Honourable Dele Adeola and other OYHA members.
Others are Chief Bolaji Ayorinde and other members of Oyo State Council of Elders, Chief Omokunmi Mustapha, Chief Judge of the Nigeria, Justice Kayode Ariwoola and many traditional rulers and other eminent personalities from far and near.
It would be recalled that the immediate past Aseyin, Late Oba Abdul-Ganiyu Salawudeen, joined his ancestors on Sunday, July 24, 2022 at the age of 62 after 17 years on the throne. He ascended the throne in 2006 as the 29th Aseyin of Iseyin.
