Court jails surety for failing to produce accused person who stole seasoning cubes in Plateau

An area court in Jos, Plateau State, on Thursday May 18, sentenced 31-year-old man, Sani Ukasha, to three months in prison for failing to produce an accused person he stood surety for.

The prosecutor, Insp Ibrahim Gokwat, told the court that the surety failed to produce the accused person in a case of seasoning cubes theft in contravention of the Plateau State Penal Code.

The judge, Mr Shawomi Bokkos, sentenced Ukasha who pleaded guilty to the charge and pleaded for leniency.

Bokkos, however, gave the surety an option of N10,000 fine.
