Senator Ademola Adeleke, has officially taken over as the Governor of Osun after taking oath of office.
Adeleke was sworn-in by the Chief Judge of Osun, Adepele Ojo, on Sunday in an event attended by many.
Adeleke came into the venue in a long convoy of vehicles around 11:20am and completed his oath taking at about 11:50am.
Dignitaries present at the Osogbo City Stadium to witness the event included the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) presidential candidate and his running mate, Atiku Abubakar and Ifeanyi Okowa respectively as well as Governors Godwin Obaseki(Edo) and Emmanuel Udom(Akwa-Ibom).
Also present were Governors Aminu Tambuwal (Sokoto); Duoye Diri (Bayelsa) as well as former Ekiti Governor, Ayo Fayose and Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi.
Wife of the PDP presidential candidate, Titi Atiku, Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi, and former Oyo Governor, Chief Rashidi Ladoja, among others were also at the venue.
Recall that Adeleke was declared winner of the Saturday July 16 poll, with a total vote of 403, 371 ahead of his closest rival, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress, who polled 375, 027 votes.
Adeleke had attributed his defeat of the incumbent governor to President Muhammadu Buhari’s decision to not interfere with the process.
