The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has re-arrested social media personality, Idris Okuneye (Bobrisky), in Lagos.
According to an Vanguard, an EFCC source claims Bobrisky’s re-arrest stems from his failure to substantiate allegations of bribery and corruption against the commission.
Specifically, he claimed to have paid N15 million to EFCC officials to dismiss money laundering charges, which the EFCC denies.
Bobrisky was detained at Murtala Muhammed International Airport while attempting to board a flight to London. The EFCC will transport him to Abuja for further investigation.
“We re-arrested him due to his refusal to provide evidence,” the source said. “Such serious allegations cannot be ignored.”
EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, confirmed the arrest. Bobrisky has taken to Instagram, claiming injury during an altercation with immigration officers.
The EFCC may charge Bobrisky for providing false information, which can lead to fines, jail time, or both.
