A 300-level medical student at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), identified as Williams, has reportedly committed su!cide
Confirming the incident to newsmen, the provost of the college, Prof. David Oke, said the deceased may have decided to take his own life due to the pressure of the impending examination.
Oke said the school authorities believe he took his life because of the cryptic message he posted on his Whatsapp status before he was found d3ad.
The provost stressed that the management of the college would conduct a post-mortem examination of his remains after a meeting with his parents.
“As of now, we cannot authoritatively say this is the cause of d3ath, but there is a suspicion that it could be su!cide, but no definite conclusion yet. They are supposed to start exams tomorrow (Monday), and some of his colleagues mentioned that he had posted a cryptic message, such as ‘goodbye,’ which they didn’t interpret as a red flag at the time,” he said.
