Major Oil Marketers to distribute petroleum products from Dangote refinery

Members of the Major Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria (MOMAN) have enrolled with Dangote Petroleum Refinery to distribute refined petroleum products from the plant.

The special assistant to the president on social media, Dada Olusegun disclosed this on Monday in a post on X.

Olusegun said the seven major oil marketers will initiate fuel distribution upon finalising commercial terms, while the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) plans to discuss loading terms with the refinery.

“MOMAN’s registered members, including 11 Plc, Conoil Plc, Ardova Plc, MRS Oil Nigeria Plc, OVH Energy Marketing Limited, Total Nigeria Plc, and NNPC Retail, are poised to purchase and distribute products from the refinery, which can load 2,900 trucks daily and adheres to Euro V specifications,” Olusegun said.

“Dangote’s refinery design adheres to standards set by the World Bank, US EPA, European emission norms, and Department of Petroleum Resources emission/effluent norms, utilizing advanced technology.”

Likewise, according to the statement, the Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Owners Association of Nigeria (PETROAN) noted that the association has been in talks with the management of the multibillion-dollar refinery over the supply of products from the facility.

The Dangote refinery had commenced production of diesel and aviation fuel on January 12, 2023 — after receiving six shipments of crude for its operations.

Speaking on the milestone, Aliko Dangote, president of Dangote Group, thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu “for his support, encouragement, and thoughtful advice towards the actualisation of this project”

“We thank President Bola Tinubu for his support and for making our dream come true. This production, as witnessed today, would not have been possible without his visionary leadership and prompt attention to details,” Dangote was quoted as saying.

He said the products (diesel and aviation fuel) will be in the market within the month once the refinery receives regulatory approvals.
