BREAKING: Rivers Govt Demolishes House of Assembly Complex

NigeriaUs News reports that the Rivers State government has started the demolition of the House of Assembly complex in Port Harcourt.

There are reports indicating that the demolition is being conducted for renovation purposes, though there are speculations suggesting potential political implications as well.
Recall that a section of the complex was gutted by fire on October 29 as the plot to impeach Siminalayi Fubara as governor of Rivers intensified.

The Rivers State High Court sitting in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, confirmed Edison Ehie, an ally of Fubara, as the legitimate Speaker of the State House of Assembly.
The demolition coincides with the recent defection of 27 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmakers to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Tensions between Fubara and Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), have escalated, marked by a dispute over control of the political structure in Rivers.
