Tinubu gallops on Google ranking, Atiku, Obi plummet

President Bola Tinubu’s popularity has continued to soar on Google ranking, taking a galloping lead over Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi who contested the last presidential election with him.

Tinubu floored the duo of Atiku, who represented the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Obi, who represented the Labour Party (LP) in that election.

Atiku and Obi were defeated by Tinubu at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal in Abuja and also at the Supreme Court, thus, laying to rest everything about the 2023 presidential election.

Google Trends captured how the trio fared between October 4 and 31, 2023. It reveals the search interest of those seeking information about the three eminent personalities.

The result revealed Tinubu took a galloping lead over Atiku and Obi, polling 71% of searches on Google. It shows that more people are searching for information about Tinubu than Atiku and Obi.

This represents a sharp rise for the president from the 45% he polled three days before the February 25, 2023 presidential election.

Atiku came second with 16% of searches. It shows a sharp drop for the former Vice President, who before the election polled 23% of searches on Google.

But Atiku overtook Obi, who had always been in second position, meaning that many people were fast losing confidence in the former LP Presidential candidate.

Obi currently polled 11% of searches, the worst he has ever gotten since the poll began in 2022. Obi crashed from 29% of searches three days before the presidential election in February to 11% of searches in October, eight months after.

Rabiu Kwankwaso, former presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) remains in fourth position, with 2% of searches which represents a drop from the 3% he had always polled.

Tinubu is being searched the most in places like Benue, Adamawa, Kebbi, Katsina, Kogi, Borno, Jigawa, Nasarawa, Gombe and Sokoto.
