Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted the wife of a High Court judge, Zainab Abbas, in Yola, Adamawa State.
Zainab Abbas was kidnapped around 2am on Wednesday, June 7, at her residence, behind Royal Ambassadors Hotel in the Nyibango neighbourhood, which is adjacent to the 23 brigade of the Nigerian Army headquarters in Yola.
Spokesperson for the police in the state, SP Suleiman Nguroje, who confirmed the incident in a statement said the Commissioner of Police, CP Afolabi Babatola, has deployed the command’s operational asset to rescue the victim.
“Adamawa state Commissioner of Police, CP Afolabi Babatola, deployed operatives of the Command, drawn from the Crack Squad, Special Rapid Response Team (SRRT) and other Tactical squads to carryout a tactical and intelligence driven Rescue Operation on Criminal Hideouts and Black Spots to rescue the Kidnapped Wife of the High Court Judge, Arrest the Kidnapers and their Collaborators that are bent to fomenting troubles in the State,” the statement read.
“Those deployed to rescue the victim will ensure the arrest of the Culprits as a further manifestation of the Command’s determination to diligent prosecution of offenders.
“These deployments will surely assist in Coordinating timely response to distress calls and to clamp down on those found committing Crimes, as the Command has deployed electronically devices to record pictorial evidences of those involved.
“The CP has equally directed Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations and Deployment to Coordinate the Designed Rescue operation as all Divisional police officers to adopt a stop and Search exercise in their respective Areas of responsibility (AOR) especially midnights to ensure total domination of the public space, Prevent Escape of Criminals and possible Arrest of trouble makers.
“The CP while re-emphasizing the firm determination of the Command in ensuring safety of lives and property seek full cooperation from members of the public and Sister security Agencies to join Hands with the Command in keeping peace in the State.
“The CP while assuring the Command’s effort to rescuing the Kidnapped Victims unharmed, further calls on members of the public to give timely report of any suspicious character around them.”
