The soldiers providing security in Enugu for the Governorship and House of Assembly elections apprehended hoodlums purportedly employed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which lost the presidential and senatorial elections in the state to the opposition Labour Party.
Nigerian troops are said to have apprehended 140 political thugs in Enugu State’s Nsukka local government area in Southeast Nigeria.

According to an inside source, the hoodlums were apprehended at the popular Carolina Hotel in Awka.
In addition, three more thugs were apprehended at the Independent National Electoral Commission office in Nsukka.
According to a security source, some thugs armed with weapons such as AK-47 rifles confessed to being sent by a local government chairman, Hon Walter Ozioko.
