LATEST: Abiodun Oyebanji Sworn In As Ekiti Governor

Abiodun Oyebanji has taken over as governor of Ekiti State from Kayode Fayemi, who served as the state’s previous governor.


Oyebanji, the next governor of Ekiti State, has reportedly taken the oath of office.

On Sunday, Justice Oyewole Adeyeye, the Chief Judge of Ekiti State, administered the oath of office to Oyebanji to the cheers of the audience.

Governor Kayode Fayemi, who also served as the chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum, was succeeded by him.
In front of the enormous Ekiti people, Oyebanji took an oath during which he swore to guard the position of governor and preserve it.

The former secretary to the state government (SSG), who was the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), was declared winner of the Ekiti governorship election with 187,057 votes, defeating his two closest challengers — Segun Oni of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) who polled 82,211 votes, and Bisi Kolawole of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who got 67,457 votes.
